The Saint John daily Sun said he was an “invoice clerk at Brown & Webb’s establishment”, which would make him a junior accountant. Brown & Webb was a major concern. Wholesale Druggists and General Merchants. They ‘manufactured’ coffee and spices, sold dye stuffs, seeds, oils, paints, and lamps among other things. Alf seems to have worked in the ‘Druggists and Chemists’ division.
