Grant documents have been found stating that John W. Kinread and Thomas Kinread were each granted 100 acres in Moncton and close to the McLaughlin Road.
1881 Census lists John Kinread as a carpenter and a Methodist.

John Kinread was born 08 August 1810 in Whitehaven, England. On 23 December 1838 he married Ann Peters in Richibucto. Ann was born 10 July 1817 in Folkstone, Kent, England. Her parents were Henry Peters and Mary Standing. (Ann's brother, Stephen Peters, married John's sister, Martha.) John was listed on census records as a carpenter, a miller, and a farmer. They lived in Mill Creek, Kent County, NB, Saint John, NB, and Moncton, NB. Grant documents have been found stating that John W. Ann KINREAD, mother of Mrs. A.E. PETERS, passed away last eve. 9 o'clock after a protracted illness. Deceased was a widow of John KINREAD of St. John, but lived in Moncton with her daughter for a number of years. During the last two days she has been lying in an unconscious state from paralysis of the brain. The funeral will take place tomorrow 2 p.m. from Mr. Peter's residence Mountain Road to the Rural Cemetery.

Mrs. Kinread was born in England and spent the greater part of her life in St. John where she was knowk as a earnest Christian and church worker. She leaves six daughters in Moncton, Mrs. A.E. PETERS, Mrs. F.J. GORBELL, Mrs. John NUGENT, Mrs. Harmon BROWN and Misses Edith KINREAD and Ella KINREAD. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Horatio ATKINSON of Amherst, N.S. and Stephen PETERS, Moncton.
