He One-time Stable Lad to Lord and Lady Chelmsford at Upton House. 'Willy' joined the 2/4th Dorsetshire Regiment in WWI. Went to Ireland and India, promoted to Sergeant whilst in Simla. After the war he worked at Sykes Clay pit, Creekmoor and became a Clay-cutter. In 1926 he became a builders labourer at Holten Heath and then trained as a Cordite-roller. In 1948 he worked at J.Hawkes shoe-shop in Poole High Street as a Warehouseman until his retirement in 1965. Willy and Edith were caretakers of the Methodist Chapel and grounds before 1914.
William enlisted into the served with 2/4 Dorset Regiment in Ireland and India between 1914 and 1918.
