""Emigration to Canada"" To petition for and obtain a Land Grant you mostly had to clear the land, as far as I know, but I haven’t found the actual requirements for the 1830’s – maybe you could just develop land that didn’t need much clearing. The Warmans arrived in 1831 and their land was virgin forest. Henry Warman’s Land Grant went though in 1853 and George Warman’s in 1847. On the other hand Henry Peters Jr. obtained his Land Grant in 1836. Why so much quicker? Could he have been there first or perhaps have come with the Warman brothers?

Henry Jr. established the area still known as Peters Mills, NB and had farmland, as well as three different mills on site. Latterly he became a Justice of the Peace. The first English settlers apparently arrived in the area in the very late 1820’ so it’s feasible Henry Jr. could have been one of them. There were already a few French settlers. Henry Jr. did not go upriver to Molus River and but settled just outside of Rexton
